Making the Holiday Colorful with Helmar and Faber-Castell

Making the Holiday Colorful with Faber-Castell

Good Day everyone!
Today I am so excited to share with you my experience working with some of the wonderful products by Faber-Castell and Helmar together. This decoration you just lay on the branch of your tree. If you make it out of cardstock it can be hung by adding a ribbon or cord onto the back.

Cmas Flower for faber Castell

But first here is a fun fact about Faber-Castell ... 2011 is a milestone year for Faber-Castell USA as they celebrate the 250th Anniversary of Faber-Castell and 35 years of Creativity for Kids! TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY YEARS!!!! WHO DOES THAT? Faber-Castell does, that's who! Can you imagine being part of such a great business/company that you have the opportunity to celebrate 250 year anniversary? Kudos to you Faber-Castell and by the way your products rock! I love working with them!

My most favorite projects using Chipboard

Hello everyone!

Today I am posting this as a summary of what I have done with my chipboard on my projects. I am doing this to apply for the Imaginarium Designs Design Team Call! (Deadline is Dec 12th) I am always up for a good challenge and I thought I knew what to do with chipboard but after looking at their blog I feel I have a lot to explore and experiment with. I am very excited to get started. I would get started here...

Method # 1:  The chipboard on this layout has several things going on. It's inked in two tones, glittered slightly, and embellished with brads and ribbon. I love this layout!

Method # 2 - Hand painted with shimmer:  This ornament is all hand painted with a couple of different colors. To achieve the silver shimmer I spritzed it with silver glimmer mist and sprinkled it with a white perfect pearls dust. This gave it some texture as the dust absorbed the glimmer mist that was not yet dry, it hardened and gave it the sparkle like snow.

Method # 3 - Yarn: In the project below I took a large 12" letter C and wrapped a bulky yarn around it till it was covered. I love how it makes it just pop in this project.

Method # 4 - Crackle: Currently working for Helmar Adhesives I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with their crackle product... it's amazing! The next time you have some crackle on hand try it out on your chipboard. You can create several looks with it... it's all about how much you layer on and with what type of brush/sponge.

Method # 5 - Glitter: Here I am showing two ways to glitter... the first layout "Fluffy" is a grungy glitter where some of the chipboard shows through. I love how this counters the girlishness of the rest of the layout.

Here is a solid glitter. The difference is the types of adhesives you use and/or the thickness of the application of the adhesive. I have used the chipboard to create a label in a difficult area. I love the playfulness of  the letter fonts and the sparkle draws your eye to it.

Method # 6 - Paint: A simple coat of paint and maybe some light distressing around the edge with ink or a basic embellishment of pearls/gems can go far when the project needs a place to rest the eye in composition.

Method # 7 - Cover with Paper  - as you can see here though I also glittered the front and inked the edges of the letters in the title. I also love to play with different sizes of letters in my titles.

Method # 8: Naked with a hint of Shimmer (glimmer mist spray)

Helmar Holiday Hop - Grace's Decorate on a Dollar

It’s that time of year where we all start thinking of the holidays so what better way to get your Holiday spirit than a great HelmarHoliday Hop? Filled with so much Holiday cheer and some amazing projects featuring all the different Helmar Adhesives.
Hello everyone and welcome to my stop on the Helmar HolidayHop. If you have been following along, you should have hopped here from Connie Mercer’s blog. If not, you just have to stop at the Helmar Blog and start from the beginning. There are goodies along the way and we don’t want you to miss a thing.

My Project today will be brief. I know you have a lot of blogs to hit will all the wonderful projects we will be showing off today! This holiday wreath is small but stunning.

I want to tell you a bit about these products.
  • The Zapdots are fantastic to add dimension.
  • The Gemstone glue works well on all gemstones but my favorite thing to use it on is glitter since it dries completely clear and lets the sparkle of the glitter shine!
  • The Remove - Well... it's just awesome at what it does. There is a video demonstration at the bottom  of this post.
  • And Helmar Premium Craft Glue - This stuff is awesome I love it for most of my crafty projects.

Below is a photo of the main supplies. I added a few more embellishments. To see an older post on how to make a larger version of these wreaths please click HERE. Instead of a larger foam wreath I glued these cones to a piece of book page 3" square and mad the point of the cones touch in the center. The cones are made of 3" squares too.

After making your wreath. Brush Helmar's Gemstone Glue on where you wish the glitter to be. Sprinkle it with glitter and let dry. Supper easy and it always looks so great when your done!

I built up 4 Zapdots in the center of this wreath to base the center embellishments off of. It is so sturdy and nice and tall.  The adhesive on these puppies is strong and lasts forever! I have not hand any of these release their adhesive like I have with other brands of foam dimensionals.

Now let me show you that Remove magic!

EDIT: many of you have been asking so here is where you can get the REMOVE Cleaner. Go to Helmar's Blog at the end of this blog hop and look down the left hand side. Main retailers are there and all of our online ones also. Happy Helmar Holidays everyone!
